KEVIN M. KANE, M.S.W., LCSW

Welcome, and it’s nice to meet you,

I know it can be intimidating when looking for a therapist & you want to make sure you connect with the right person. That’s why I’m happy to introduce myself here. I am a licensed clinical social worker, graduating from Monmouth University and have a lifelong connection to the Jersey Shore area & the community here.

From my beginnings with Catholic Charities helping people across the State of NJ, I also worked as a therapist for the inpatient unit of a local psychiatric hospital doing both individual & group therapy, until the work I did as a Grief & Bereavement Director at a local hospice agency helping people with the end- of- life transition all the way through to assisting the families with their losses. It’s work that was truly meaningful.

I know too that you’ve been through a lot of life experiences. I know they aren’, or weren’t, always easy. Throughout my career, I have provided counseling in my Point Pleasant, NJ office & online for people just like you who are dealing with various life issues like anxiety, grief and loss, depression and other concerns. I’m a licensed clinical social worker with vast experience, training and certification providing help for people within the mental health setting in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I’m also a certified Level 3 (Expert) Reiki Practitioner. With over 20 years in providing mental health services, my experience has most recently focused on the issues of providing supportive treatment for patients, caregivers, and family members within the hospice setting. My expertise has led to recognition and awards from my peers, and while they are appreciated, I find the most satisfaction from helping people just like you.

I’ve been described as a highly-engaging and effective therapist, I focus on you to help you by actively listening and hearing you fully to help you overcome any roadblocks standing in your way to help you achieve more peace of mind and life satisfaction.

Practicing Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectal Behavior Therapy, as well as other effective therapeutic approaches, I can also help you with learning easy-to-apply coping strategies and skills to help decrease anxiety, depression and mood issues.

While I’ve been extensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as well as others, I believe deeply in an individualized approach. I’m known for being a great listener & I want to provide you with the best treatment possible - so I work hard to find the very best therapy approach for for you. There is no one-size fits all model. It just doesn’t exist. But, I can reassure you that I have helped many people with all sorts of issues & if I don’t feel I can be the best help for you, I’ll be honest & tell you that too! It is all about what’s best for you!

Working together, I will help you understand and incorporate what you've learned into your daily life.

I believe in keeping our sessions as stress-free as possible for you and my style has been described by many of my clients as "warm, funny and accepting". Our work together is serious, and I don’t take lightly when you place your trust in me.

I do accept most major insurances as well as private pay and participate out-of-network if I am not in your plan. I look forward to our work together.
